BIOGRAFI

Zachary Hatcher er en amerikansk harpist, der bor i København. Han blev født i 1996 og kommer fra en musikerfamilie. Zachary har spillet harpe det meste af sit liv, og han begyndte allerede, da han var kun fire år gammel. Som 16-årig blev Zachary Hatcher optaget på Juilliard Pre College, en forberedelse til det berømte Julliard School of Music i New York. To år senere flyttede han til Frankrig, hvor han var den første amerikanske harpist, der er blevet optaget på Paris Conservatory.

Efter blot ét års studie i Paris vandt Zachary Æresprisen ved den internationale Léopold Bellan Solistkonkurrence i Paris. Året efter, i 2016, vandt han stillingen som soloharpist i DR Symfoniorkestret. Siden Zachary flyttede til København, har han gjort sig bemærket som orkester- og kammermusiker samt som solist. Hans solodebut var i Ravels Introduction og Allegro med Danmarks Radios Symfoniorkester i 2016. Han har optrådt med DR Symfoniorkestret næsten hver sæson siden da.

What are your interests besides music?

I’m a food fanatic and love to cook- I spend a lot of my time outside of work in the kitchen cooking with friends !

Who are your biggest inspirations and why? 

Musically, I would have to say Kryztian Zimerman and Martha Argerich. The way they play the piano is what has inspired me to work so hard on the harp.

What do you like about playing chamber music?

Chamber music gives you a chance to have a huge impact on the musical outcome of a performance. In the orchestra we are all in the trenches, using our parts responsibly- I find with chamber music it’s more like dancing in a small formation. You get to actively move with the ensemble in every detail of the music.
