Nicolas Sublet

Violin

BIOGRAPHY

MORE ABOUT ME

What are your interests besides music?

I like to cook and especially to do my own bread.

I also recently decided to do more sport and I decided to do rowing. I really like it!

I also like to watch football (of course, only when Denmark or France wins).

Who are your biggest inspirations and why?

It's difficult to choose a specific person. I think there is something inspiring about most people I meet. And each person is inspiring for different reasons. I would even say that inspiration can come from many things other than people. Stories, ideas, words, facts, moments of life…

Your top 3 favourite pieces of music

It changes every days!

But today I really like Ravel’s quartet, Schuberts quintet for 2 celli and Mel Bonis’ Soir - Matin.

What do you like about playing chamber music?

I like to feel that the story that is being played can change at any moment because each musician has the space to bring their ideas. I also like to listen and try the musical ideas of the musicians I play with. I feel like I understand them better,I get into their minds a little and enrich myself with new points of view. For me, chamber music is the most exciting form of music. It’s the perfect balance between group and individuality, between freedom and structure and it covers a huge spectrum of very nuanced characters.
